Important Notice on Data Quality for Shipments to the U.S. and Canada
Data quality is critical to prevent delays in global trade and air transport. The requirements for the quantity and accuracy of data submitted to customs authorities worldwide are constantly increasing.
All shippers and forwarders are required to provide accurate and detailed descriptions of shipments to Swiss WorldCargo, especially for shipments to the U.S. and Canada. Alternatively, the correct HS code must be provided.
Cargo description:
- For all consolidated shipments (shipments consisting of two or more House Air Waybills), the description of the MAWB must read “CONSOLIDATION” or “CONSOLIDATION AS PER ATTACHED MANIFEST”. If a customer sends 1 MAWB with only 1 HAWB, the Master AWB cannot read “CONSOLIDATION” but copy the goods description of the HAWB instead.
- For consolidations the abbreviation “CONSOL” is not acceptable.
- For shipments on HAWB-level and for non-consolidated shipments, a precise cargo description of the goods must be provided. Generic descriptions like “spare parts”, “tools”, “pharmaceuticals” or “various goods” are not allowed.
HS-Codes:
- For all shipments Swiss WorldCargo strongly recommends the customers to use the HS-Code with a minimum of 6 digits whenever available for shipments to or via the USA to avoid customs stops.
Important Note:
Swiss WorldCargo reserves the right to pass on any penalties or additional charges (e.g., storage fees) imposed by customs authorities due to incorrect or incomplete information.
